September. Some months seem more full of meaning than others.
Though each month has its own significance, personal and otherwise, September in the land of seasons is a time of contrasts, wistful and busy, anticipatory and melancholic,
changing colours and Indian summer days.
On Saturday we headed down the highway once again to my favourite health food store in Greenwood.
We had a motorcycle escort.
In fact there were motorcycles coming and going all over the place this past weekend, the unofficial last weekend of summer.
Because of the speed we travelled and the mixed light conditions I saved my pictures for our arrival in Kingston, sister town to Greenwood. And here at the corner we turn, my favourite Kingston house.
It's a sweetheart at every angle.
After several stops in Greenwood and Kingston we headed home in clear skies.
Wally always takes the slow road home which is winding and scenic.
Simple houses in their rural settings like this newer build
but many older ones like this with its sweet covered porch
and a rare larger one like this quintessential 1920's pyramid roofed classic.
The long shadows make every home look homier.
This was a wonderful house in Aylesford,
but I only managed to capture its tree which is equally as wonderful.
Sometimes a house is so fabulous it warrants a copper roof!
Suddenly we came to a slow crawl behind more motorcycles.
Eventually they passed as one this wobbly wagon with its ungainly load of hay bales
It was making us nervous the way it drunkenly swayed on its wiggly hitch.
Eventually Wally found his opportunity to pass the big blue tractor that was pulling it.
I don't mind these slowdowns in farm country.
I have great respect for the working man like these who are returning home at the end of the day.
There seems to be a barn or similar outbuilding behind many of these old homes.
Ready for winter, this woodpile is neatly stacked, though across the lawn from the house.
Another barn, large and rather homely, but in good repair.
a magnificent home with bay windows upstairs and down
a similarly sized house without the schmaltz of adornment
There's nothing like a maple lined country road in my book.
With yet another outing the next day, I'll be back with more pictures of the quaint Annapolis Valley.
season's greetings on this early fall day
feel the exquisite beauty of your miraculousness
you are perfect
