diamonds in the weeds

The rainy dreary days continue here, but at least it has cooled off a little making the humidity less wearisome. It means I can bake and cook and warm the house up just enough to make it comfortable.

Outside the plants are- ha,ha- soaking it up
I am terrible with names of plants but I just love this exotic creature that sits in a chair I found roadside

A beautifully veined leaf dappled with raindrops of this same plant

And another leaf, a pink amongst the purple

It's flowers are tiny lovely pinks

Another leaf from another plant that has caught many glassy raindrops on its broad surface.
You can see the bare spot where I moved a blade of grass away

Tiny hard little peaches growing so well on our new peach tree

A close-up of a baby peach reveals its mottling and fuzz

Such an exquisite little thing up close

A Harelson Baby Apple up close

These apples will be marvelous if the deer don't get them first.
Wally has taken to hanging aluminum pie shells in the garden now that he has found hoof tracks
and nibbled tops off herbs and such

The green blossoms of a hydrangea before it fills out and goes white

The giant hydrangea bush that grows right in the middle of our property, draped and bowed from the rain

The last of the little bush roses that grow in our hedge

a Bean flower, humble little thing that it is

and zucchini sprouts taking off with wings that would fly if they weren't rooted

Mallow that grows like a weed but is too beautiful to treat as such

I was first introduced to Mallow when I found it growing all over the lawn in Port Carling
and began my love affair for it then, rambunctious, tough and beautiful wild thing that it is

A diamond caught in a leaf

Til next time, let us always find diamonds in the weeds.

Beautiful photos of an enchanted world. It is winter here and I am in awe of your green lushness... it seems so far away.

Thank you Kooky. I must admit I'm a bit self-conscious about the lushness that abounds here when I know other parts of the world don't have it. But I bet if you look around you, you will find beauty regardless.
